Do you have a woman in your life that is extraordinary? A woman who is an example of strength, courage, hope? The New Mix 103-7, Capri Jewelers and Richmond Times Dispatch want to honor these women through the Extraordinary Woman of the Month Campaign! The New Mix 103-7's Extraordinary Woman of the Month campaign will honor women in Richmond who are extraordinary in many different ways! Every month, The New Mix 103-7 will accept nominations of Richmond's Extraordinary Women on mix1037.com or through entry forms in Richmond Times Dispatch. Each month's honoree will receive a special bracelet that The New Mix 103-7 and Capri Jewelers have designed to serve as a symbol of honor for the extraordinary women in all of our lives- Virginia's Hope Bracelet.
"Virginia's Hope Bracelet" holds a special place in the heart of Chris DeCapri, owner of Capri Jewelers. The bracelet is named after an extraordinary woman who demonstrated unfaltering hope many times in her life. Virginia DeCapri, supported her young son, Chris DeCapri as he battled cancer. Her love and hope played a major role in his recovery. Sadly enough, in 2002, Virginia lost her battle to leukemia. She is Capri's Extraordinary Woman.
Virginia's Hope Bracelet is a custom-made Sterling Silver Cable Link Bracelet with a 2 Carat Blush Pink Topaz. This one-of-a-kind bracelet will be sold at both Capri Jewelers locations- in Short Pump Crossing and Virginia Center Commons. The bracelet is $395, with 20% of the proceeds to benefit a women's charity. This month's proceeds will benefit American Cancer Society.

Current Extraordinary Woman of the Month:
Allie Stough
Nominated by Nancy Alpine.Although the young woman I am nominating is only 19 years old, Allie Stough has lived years in her extraordinary short life. When she was six years old, she had surgery for a malignant brain tumor. As a result she has some neurological damage, sort of like a person with a mild stroke. She repeated 1st grade and learned to read all over again. Education is her first priority.
School is tough for her because of her short term memory. She is hard-working, and does not give up. She gets frustrated but brushes it off and is determined to accomplish her goals no matter what it takes.
Funding cancer research is very important to her. In 2007 she participated in the Relay for Life and the Cure by Design Fashion show.
Allie began to study art after her surgery to help her use both sides of her brain. Art has been so therapeutic for her that she would like to open her own art studio when she graduates so she can teach children to paint. She would like to give back to the people that have helped her, especially working with students that have special needs.
Her cancer experience has made her understand how precious life is. She has just completed her first semester at Richard Bland College, majoring in art education. She is well on her way to accomplishing her goal and making an amazing contribution to our world.
