November 6th - Autumn Carter from Red Salon Organics in talking about having good hair and not breaking the bank. Here are some of her tips! 1. Ask your stylist if they offer free bang trims in between haircuts. 2. If you have short hair see if your stylist will shave your neck in between haircuts. 3. If you have a lot of highlights, ask your stylist about doing lower maintenance color that will last longer. 4. if you are trying to cover grey and have bad roots a few weeks after coloring , try matching it to your natural color . 5. If you are spending a lot of time and money trying to up keep your haircut, ask your stylist about a look that would be modern but also go with your natural hair type. 6. If you buy salon shampoos and conditioners, try adding a little spring water to the bottle to help it last longer. You'll find that it also makes your hair easier to lather when you shampoo. 7. Remember, headbands are a big trend for the fall and winter, so if you cant afford to get you hair done......accessorize! 8. If your in a position were you might have to break up with your stylist because of money, always discuss it with them first. I know I would do anything to reattain my loyal clientele. Angie's tips Make up tips With each season comes new trends in fashion and make up. Here’s how you can introduce the latest trends without looking like you went crazy in the make up store.

  • A lot of designers this season are using fabrics that are jewel colored, like deep purple, gold and ruby. This poses the question, “Should your make up match?” The answer is no.
  • You can never go wrong with wearing eyeshadow and lipstick that fits your features. A flattering make up application is always in style.
  • But if you want to try the some of the more risqué colors of the season, but are timid, try them on. Sephora and Ulta are great places test the latest trendy colors before you take them home. They have application brushes all over the store so you can try most everything they sell.
  • For fun, shimmery eye color, I absolutely love Urban Decay eyeshadow.

There are so many colors to play with like, Hotpants (pink), Midnight Cowgirl (sparkly light gold), Oil Slick (black) and more. The colors are really rich, so a little goes a long way.
  • Remember, each season there will be new trends, some will fit you and some will not. It never hurts to try a fun and different look. And if you’re not sure what to pick, bring a friend make up shopping with you for a second opinion.

If you heading from the office to cocktail hour, here are some tips for making your make up go day to night too:

  • Don’t worry about reapplying all your make up from scratch. The goal here is to spruce up your look from the office, not completely change it.
  • If you have a little oil on your face from the day, try oil blotting sheets you can find at a drugstore. Then touch up your skin with your compact powder.
  • Apply bronzer for a nice glow, which is an especially nice look during the cold months. It will make your skin look warm and sun-kissed. Make sure you apply around your hairline and on your neck so it blends with your skin.
  • Retouch your lip gloss or lipstick (like you haven’t been doing it all day anyway).
